Dan Sorensen joins Propeller with over six years experience in Finance & Accounting. Throughout his career, Dan has demonstrated a passion for solving complex reporting problems, creating process efficiencies, and decision support analysis.
Dan is a CPA and began his career with Navistar, Inc., the manufacturer of International Truck and diesel engines. While at Navistar, he completed a two-year rotational program gaining experience and insight into manufacturing accounting, FP&A, and external reporting. After completing the rotational program, Dan placed as a Senior Financial Analyst in Manufacturing Finance. Dan played a key role in budgeting a multi-billion dollar enterprise SG&A expense and re-vamped the standard costing process improving submission time and reporting capabilities.
After Navistar, Dan worked at Ironform, a newly created PE backed holding company operating two metal fabricating businesses. While at Ironform, Dan created a budgeting and forecasting tool that captured upstream costs and downstream demands with a high level of precision.
After Ironform, Dan worked at Segall Bryant & Hamill, a PE backed registered investment advisor. He managed the full spectrum of Segall’s financials, including general accounting, AP, AR, budgeting, forecasting, decision support, and management reporting. Dan created all accounting processes and implemented T&E and GL systems.
Dan now calls Austin home, is a Operation Iraqi Freedom Veteran, and continues to serve in the Army Reserve. He received a BBA in Finance from the University of Wisconsin– Madison and an MBA in Technology Ventures Entrepreneurship & Accounting from the University of Illinois at Chicago. Outside of work, Dan enjoys running, hiking, live music, cooking, and long walks with his wife Elsa and their adopted Olde English Bulldogge, Rosey.
