Case Study II
Pipeline Healthcare provides outsourced pharmacy expertise and medication order processing capabilities for hospital pharmacy departments. Their pharmacists work remotely from their homes by using a proprietary cloud-based technology platform that replicates the exact job functions of on-site pharmacists.
Pipeline’s business accelerated in early 2011, outpacing the capabilities of their existing financial processes and infrastructure. Management and the board of directors needed to extract strategic insights from the increasingly complicated transactional data — real time financial and operational indicators that would give immediate feedback on the business and its key drivers. Finally, they wanted to attract new sources of equity and debt capital to finance their growth.
In order to address Pipeline’s needs, Propeller Industries’ integrated finance and accounting team delivered the following:
- Analyzed transactional data and derived a set of key financial and operational performance indicators to report against.
- Built a dynamic reporting tool to automatically sync Quickbooks data to the Excel-based budget, enabling real-time budget to actual and dashboard reporting for management and the Board.
- Led financial due diligence for equity and debt sources of capital. Educated investors on the business model, finance and accounting results, process, systems and controls.
